A mere two years old, Inn at the Forks has distinguished itself as the boutique hotel in Winnipeg and capitalizes on its historic location at the Forks, a public space in the downtown core that attracts almost four million visitors per year. The 115 modern guest rooms and suites cater to business people, casual leisure travellers and spa seekers, not to mention Canada's music royalty. Though he won't divulge names, general manager Denis Smith says that when the Juno Awards were held in the Prairie city in 2005, Inn at the Forks was the host hotel for Universal Music artists.
The look
Each room is characterized by clean lines, a contemporary feel and modern indulgences, from the electric fireplace with bevelled glass for a more interesting flame effect to the incredibly soft 300-thread-count linens. The hotel also took the opportunity to showcase its city's and province's talent, by including Manitoba-made millwork, artwork of nearby attractions by local artists and Winnipeg-made spreads and drapery.

The inspiration
Although primarily contemporary, the hotel's style is inspired by the ancient elements -- the brick wall colour for earth, the electric flame for fire, the "current" patterned carpeting for water, and the large picture window for air.
