new teatro verde location

Check out Teatro Verde‘s new digs!

A favourite haunt of Toronto’s top tastemakers, Teatro Verde is bidding adieu to its storefront in the Hazelton Lanes Shopping Centre (get down there soon because the sale on the remaining merch is INCREDIBLE!), and setting up shop in this grand Georgian mansion on Yorkville Avenue. Reno work on the building seems to be coming along well, considering the grand opening’s scheduled for May 15.

I’m so pumped to think of this ginormous space (9,000 square feet!) filled with Shawn Gibson and Michael Pellegrino’s impeccably edited collection of small, gorgeous things, merchandised to perfection and complemented with their breathtaking floral arrangements… More details to come!

natural memory foam mattress

essentia natural memory foam mattress

Some day soon I’ll have to buy a new mattress, and when I do, I want it to be an eco-friendly, natural one.

At this year’s Green Living Show, April 24-26 in Toronto, I’ll be trying out the only natural memory foam mattresses around — those from Essentia, a Quebec-based company (hurrah, Canada!) — and you can, too.

They’re made from 100% natural Dunlop latex (sourced from rubber plantations with monitored working conditions and no child labour), and organic oils and plant extracts instead of petroleum-based products to give the product a memory-foam-like feel, and are 100% biodegradable.

Love this promo: Until Mar. 5, 2010, all owners of hybrid and electric vehicles receive a 20% discount on Essentia mattresses through the company’s website! For further details, click here.

Available at: Costco (Pure and Classic 8 models), and www.essentiadirect.com (all models)

Price: from $1,499 (US) for a queen mattress

This statement piece has a hand-tufted back and seat and is made of a flax linen upholstery. Looks a little like something you`d find in grandma`s living room but retro never looked so good!

Cascara side table
Made of iron, MDF and brass, this rustic-looking, barrel-shaped side table is original and sure to be a conversation piece.
