As you may have read in this months issue of Style at Home, I was in a girl’s dream-come-true when I learned that I would be jumping a flight to Scandinavia to visit Sweden. So, last February, I visited the birthplace of a store that is near and dear to my heart – IKEA.
You can imagine my delight when I realized that I would be previewing the launch of my ultimate fave “PS Collection“, and be given the opportunity to sit and talk with some of the designers of PS 2012. Amazing!
The Royal Copenhagen Flagship Store in Copenhagen is so stunning, and houses many different Royal Copenhagen patterns, all of which are hand-painted on china.
Since moving back to Canada from Oslo in October of this year, I have been craving some Scandi-love in the way of smørbrod, salted black liquorice so I was clearly in heaven! It had even worked out that I had a friend or two working in house on the IKEA catalogue in Älmhult; when we did our press tour it was hugs all around!
Eating smørbrod by the water in Copenhagen is one of my favourite things to do ever! We stopped here for a quick bite on a day walking in the city.
After we learned so very many cool things about the beginnings of IKEA, toured all of the facilities, viewed the collections throughout the decades, and had an ice cream, we traveled to Copenhagen to see the sights. I want to share with you some of the behind-the-scenes moments to remember and my favourite finds along the way!

I immediately loved the form and function of this cabinet from the 2012 PS collection, but loved the surprise of the red lining – just like a giant jewellery box!
