With the first of December just days away, mailboxes will be overflowing with holiday cards in no time! Beautiful sentiments from loved ones brighten even the gloomiest of wintery days, but heaps of cards stashed on a front entry console hardly seems fitting of the term deck the halls!

I made my way to the One of a Kind Christmas Show this weekend to start my holiday shopping. After a few hours scouring the stands and looking at all the local handmade goods, I put together a list of my favourite gifts ideas. There were so many items to choose from – from knickknacks and gourmet treats to furniture and kitchen utensils – but I narrowed down my finds to 5 perfect holiday gifts. Here they are! Can you guess which ones I went home with?
The holidays are a perfect time to try out a few DIY projects: they are usually inexpensive, creative and allow you to really achieve the holiday look that suits your style. The first DIY project I’m sharing with you couldn’t be more simple but I find that it adds a simple and festive touch and makes you look forward to having the rest of your house decorated. It all begins with a re-purposed glass jar, pretty labels and some painted pine cones.
Each year, I promise myself I won’t get caught up in the potential madness of the holiday season. In order to keep this promise to myself, I need to get organized well in advance – but the prep work pays off, leaving me time for the only thing that really matters to me: Sitting in front of the gentle glow of the Christmas tree with my family.

The One Of A Kind Christmas Show & Sale is just around the corner. It’s happening, here in Toronto, from November 24 to December 4 at the Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place.
A family friend and the artist behind Beluxe, Bev Hogue, will be exhibiting again this year. Her booth has consistently been a favourite amongst attendees since she began exhibiting with OOAK, back in 2004. Be sure to visit booth S-51 to see for yourself.

This mini book from Paper Source is my favorite Mother’s Day gift this year! A small journal filled with questions for mom to answer about her life. It’s a perfect way to get to know your mom better and a great keepsake for your own children or family members. I actually bought one for my mother-in-law for her birthday last year. I sent it to her and about two weeks later I received it back, completely filled with memories. It was so fun to look through and read more about her life and all of her stories… I really did learn more about her! It truly is a wonderful gift. Oh, and they have one for dad too!
