They say a picture speaks a thousand words and this one says ‘cold nights and hot drinks`. Summer isn`t even over officially yet but I`m not fooled. Autumn is on its way with winter quick on its heels. I can see them both, just waiting around the corner, giggling and waiting to pounce the moment my back is turned, those sneaky little devils.
Get your home ready with beautiful fall and winter accessories like these gorgeous Lima Alapaca throws from Crate and Barrel. Handwoven in Peru, these beautiful blankets come in a variety of cozy colours like plum, chartreuse and charcoal.

Outside, the leaves may just be starting to turn, but here at the STYLE AT HOME offices, it’s already a full-blown winter wonderland as we prepare for our December spectacular. Which, of course, has me thinking about what I want for the holidays, and at the top of my wish list is this gorgeous narrow wool tie. If every girl has to have an Hermes scarf, then the same must be said of Hermes ties for guys… With kilt-edge fringing at both ends and the in-your-face tartan design, this is a necktie for a guy who is easily bored with neckties (namely, me). Covet!
Price: $190
Available at: Hermes, Montreal, 514-842-3387; Toronto, 416-968-8626; Vancouver, 604-681-9965.
There’s been an explosion of reusable shopping bags of late and I say, bring it on!
I love Envirosax’s line of super-lightweight bags not only because you can fold them down into incredibly small little bundles, but also because they come with tabs with snap closures, so they stay all neatly folded up in your purse when you’re not using them.
Each is capable of holding twice the amount of two grocery bags (that’s a whopping 44 pounds), and the pattern won’t fade away, no matter how many times you wash the bag.
They come in lots of beautiful colours and patterns, so you can match them to your outfits, and they’d make great little gifts!
Available at: www.envirosax.com
Price: $8.50 US

For some, a rug is a functional item to warm the floors, cover a stain or delineate a space. For others it`s an afterthought; a nice-to-have-but-not-necessary addition to a room. For others still, a rug is a statement; a bold declaration about style and aesthetic. It might be the special piece that an entire room is designed around or a find so beautiful it`s a guaranteed conversation starter. And for these people, there`s The Rug Company. With handmade designs from world-renowned designers like Vivienne Westwood and Diane Von Furstenberg, these fabulous rugs take rugs to a whole new level. And they`re super-exclusive, too, with stores in a handful of cities worldwide: London, New York, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Madrid, Moscow, Brussels, Copenhagen, Mexico, Oslo, Stockholm and Hong Kong. I can`t think of any better reason to hop on a plane to say, Barcelona, to check these beauties out.

British fashion designer Julien Macdonald may be most famous for his work with Chanel and Givenchy but his eye for design obviously wanders from fashion to home decor with ease. I just love these wallpaper designs of his. Pictured left is Ornate in black and blue and features a gorgeous and intricate baroque-inspired design. I love the drama. Pictured right is Glamorous in black and pink and, well, I think the name says it all.
“This has been an inspiring, refreshing challenge, and I’m delighted with the collection” says Julien Macdonald about his first ever wallpaper collection. “The designs are a true reflection of the influences I experience through travel and my work as a fashion designer. Seeing my signature style of glamour and elegance translated onto wallpaper is an achievement I’m very proud of.”
We love it too, Julien. And if I can`t wrap my body in your clothes, at least I can wrap my walls in your paper.

I`m all about multi-functional these days. I mean, why invest in three things to perform three different tasks when you can rely on one thing to perform three tasks? Yes, I am of the BlackBerry generation — one device for phone, email, music, calendar … I`m hooked! So when I discovered Kodak`s ESP-5 all-in-one printer, I knew I`d love it. It`s sleek and sexy and so easy to use. So what does this wonder printer do? It prints (duh), copies and scans but what I love most is the three-inch LCD screen for viewing and editing. And, it features memory card and USB slots so that you can view, edit and print your materials, even if you don`t have a computer hooked up to it. When did something as practical as a printer get so exciting? It`s both Mac- and PC-compatible and has space for two cartridges; black and a five-colour cartridge. Perfect for your home office as long as you actually work and don’t spend your day playing with your new gadget!
Available at: Staples Business Depot and London Drugs or online at kodak.ca.
Price: $169.99
Psst! We’re going to be giving one of these fab printers away soon on styleathome.com so keep checking back for our contest!
