pinterest boards we love {holiday cheer}

One of the best things about the holidays is an opportunity to spend some quality time at home.

Without anywhere to go you can settle in and truly enjoy your home decor; you can sleep in until noon if you’d like, you can indulge in a few festive cocktails with friends, and you can even relish the chance to do some holiday decorating.

This week’s featured pinner embodies all of these ideas and browsing her boards will get you into the Christmas spirit!

all i want for christmas is …

It’s that time of year. My mom and my sister keep asking me what I’d like for Christmas and the thing is, I can never think of anything. But with growing pressure to come up with a few ideas to put on my Christmas wish list, I remembered something that caught my eye back in October.

decor vs. fashion: drum or ring?

We all want to look our best this holiday season, but we also want our homes to look the prettiest they possibly can as well!

So if you had an imaginary budget of $160, which would you splurge on: a stunning, traditional decorative drum (that doubles as an occasional table) or a gorgeous, chunky gold ring for that string of cocktail parties you have lined up?

six winning interiors from four houses canada

Have you seen the new HGTV television series Four Houses Canada yet? If you have, you’ll know it’s a property show like no other. And if you haven’t, you must tune in. In each episode, four strangers tour and rate each others homes.  Each house is critiqued in secret for style, design and overall impression. The homeowner with the highest score wins bragging rights as “Best House,” a cash prize and, best of all, a photo feature in an upcoming issue of Style at Home magazine. Here are six interiors of the winning homes. Four Houses Canada airs Sundays at 9 pm ET/PT on HGTV.

shop Generation Art at EQ3

There’s a gift-giving trend on the rise that has folks shopping for gifts that, in addition to making loved ones smile, benefit others and support a special cause!

For the art enthusiasts in your life, shop Generation Art, a limited edition product line available exclusively from Canadian design house, EQ3 (both in-store and online at EQ3.com). The collection includes notebooks, pillows, posters and more; and it’s raising awareness about social issues through art designed by nine young Canadians between the ages of 15 and 30.

All of the proceeds from Generation Art purchases support Michaëlle Jean Foundation’s initiatives (the Arts Save Lives) to empower underprivileged youth. “EQ3 has partnered with the Michaëlle Jean Foundation because we strongly believe in the cause it serves and the ability for engagement of the entire EQ3 staff and customers across Canada. Art is a great tool which can help disenfranchised youth to find a way out of their complex social environments,” explains Peter Tielmann, President of EQ3.

I just love the stories behind these art-inspired goods and couldn’t resist pulling together a small gift guide for you with a few of my  favourites…
