sarah pinto’s 2011 agendas

At the beginning of every new year, I always make sure to pick up a yearly planner, otherwise I would never remember a single thing. I fill it with birthdays, meetings and upcoming goals for the year {such as cleaning out our junk room by the end of January –it’s currently behind closed doors always}. And even though I live by my iPhone’s digital calendar, I like having a hard copy as a back-up.

This year’s search lead me to Sarah Pinto’s site, where she sells her weekly planners and notebooks. Available in a variety of fun styles, her clean and modern aesthetic reminds me of Kate Spade {which is clearly why I was drawn to it!}. What sets Sarah apart, however, is that she donates a portion of the proceeds to the pediatric cardiology ward of the California Pacific Medical Centre, where her son has been treated for a heart defect.

I chose the cool nautical-themed agenda, and with shipping and taxes it only came to $35. Not bad for a year’s worth of planning and a donation to a great cause.

2010 calendar on etsy

etsy calendar 2010 calendar on etsy
I have a ton of personal pictures that I`ve always said I would do something creative with. Create digital scrapbooks with family photos. Frame travel photos and hang them in my apartment. Make personalized greeting cards with beautiful nature shots. Alas, I`ve never gotten around to any of this. (Well, I did make a personalized calendar once, using the images from my Apple iPhoto library and it was shockingly quick and easy; with the click of a button, I had ordered two copies and they were delivered in mere days.) Anyhow, when I stumbled upon this stunning calendar on etsy, it reminded me of all the ways I`ve thought of using my photographs.

This 2010 calendar features an assortment of beautiful botanical photographs and I love the display idea, clipped to a clothesline with clothespins. Simple. Beautiful. I love it. This makes a fabulous gift idea (and you may want to get one for yourself, while you`re at it … )

must have: wall calendar

calendar must have: wall calendar‘Tis the season for calendar kiosks in the mall, and whenever I pass by these booths, I’m struck by how kitschy the options are. I can get girls on the hoods of classic cars, kittens, or The Far Side. And as much as I love The Far Side, I’d never consider mounting it on my home office wall. Appointments are for journals, planners and BlackBerrys — not for guests to ogle whenever they stop by. So, what are my real options for marking the rapidly approaching days of 2009? How about the sleek Folle Wall Calendar, originally designed in 1982, and now available through Design Within Reach. The little red arrow slides across the linear steel bar to indicate the day of the month in an arresting design that’s ultra-mod, with a sprinkling of the set design of The Price is Right. Come on down to my home office!
