sneak peek: indigo 2011 holiday collection

This week, I attended Indigo‘s holiday preview event. The Indigo team set up a beautiful space, filled with all the latest candles, plates, pillows, gourmet goodies, books, and home decor items that make the store such a great go-to place for pretty accessories. Also present were celebrity chefs Mark McEwan and Trish Magwood, who both released new cookbooks this year!

Here are a few of my favourite home decor items from the event – they will all be in stores in the next coming weeks.

With the holiday season almost upon us, it’s time to start thinking about gift ideas for friends and family.

No matter how much time you give yourself, we all know the feeling of just not knowing what to get someone. When I made my way to the opening of a retail space for Coach House Shortbread Company, a Toronto-based baker who specializes in a variety of handmade, buttery shortbread goodies, I immediately thought that these were a perfect gift idea.

swiss army airstream trailer

Where was THIS when I was camping a few weeks ago? Although I’m not sure it would have fit on my campsite, it definitely would’ve pimped it out.

The Victorinox Swiss Army Airstream trailer pulled up to the Style At Home offices earlier this week, en route to the CNE, which opens today. The super-stretch aluminum trailer, kitted out for Victorinox’s 125th anniversary, is a mobile treasure chest of trendy tools, and offers a taste of the real deal – a limited edition series of 125 ultraluxe 19-foot Airstreams:

Check out the interior appointments (pulled off in the iconic Swiss Army colours, of course!):

The bed’s fitted out with a luxurious custom bedding ensemble with embroidered wool blanket.

The price tag for this luxe limited edition trailer? A cool $59,000 USD.

I’m more likely to spring for this little number, myself:

This jazzy little gem (the fresh take on the iconic Swiss Army logo is so much fun!) is part of the ginormous Swiss Army collection inside the Airstream that’s now at the CNE. Definitely worth checking out if you’re planning a trip down to the Ex! (A great opportunity to pre-plan your holiday gift list…)

father’s day gift ideas – part two

Whew… What a trip! I’m back, safe and sound on Canadian soil, and back to reality…

And part of that reality is that Father’s Day is now only eight shopping days away. Gah.

A few weeks back (before that little sidetrip to Sweden and Denmark) I’d taken a look at what PC Home had to offer in terms of Father’s Day giftware, and it got me channeling my inner lumberjack (inasmuch as shopping for masculine, wood-grain-motif gifts is something a lumberjack does).

A little more refined, but just as “woodsy” as that barbeque cover, is this little gem.

compass fathers day gift ideas part twoThis mahogany and sonokeling wood stunner is actually a compass!

As you can see, the protective cover pivots away to reveal the mechanism inside, making it both handsome and practical (the two qualifiers for a great father’s day gift)! And it’s well-priced, to boot.
