decotec colourful bathrooms

One of the most vivid booths at this year’s Interior Design Show belonged to Decotec, a Paris-based dealer of eye-poppingly brilliant bathroom fittings. With Decotec now available in Canada through a Quebec location, I just had to share my fave find from their colourful collection.

This piece, the Malles des Indes, is what Decotec is calling their “Bohemian bathroom”. So cute and compact – everything just folds into an attractive cabinet when not in use! The ultimate design solution for the teensy weensy bath? Euro-faboosh!

Still high on my orange kick, I wanted to share my latest hit of “Vitamin C for your home”. These statuesque ceramic statement pieces are new from Roche Bobois, and range in size from 8cm to 31cm high. Imagine them in a high-impact cluster on a mantel, or as part of a coffee tablescape… I just love vases that don’t need a floral arrangement to look fabulous!

How much am I loving orange lately? I find myself drawn to citrus-hued accents more and more, and although I love the sprightly spring hits of lime, orange and yellow grapefruit, it’s the orange that really speaks to me. I’m putting it down to an absurdly harsh — and drawn-out — winter, and dreams of vacationing in Florida. I really miss that curiously Floridian musk of dampness cut with the acidic tang of orange groves… Even if the effect is all in your mind, it honestly does rejuvenate.

The orange swatches above are from Benjamin Moore’s Virtual Fan Deck, which, if you want to do some research before heading into the home dec centre to pick up samples, can save you a bit of time. Nothing substitutes for the real swatches, of course, but at least you can start your hunt for hues from the comfort of home with this handy little feature!
