win this pc home grill!

What better way to celebrate this early sampling of summer weather than with a great giveaway?

Seeing as how everybody loved those great folding Muskoka chairs from PC Home, the folks at Loblaws and the Real Canadian Superstore have generously offered to give a lucky Style Sleuth reader the perfect complement: the PC Home Kettle Grill.

PC Everyday Essentials Portable Kettle Charcoal Grills, $30 each

Seriously – how cute are they? These diminutive little grills are perfectly portable alternative to lugging that huge barbecue up to the cottage, and make for a fantastic host gift if you’re spending the weekend at a friend’s summer retreat.

How to win one? Simply tell me (via the Comments section at the bottom of this entry) what you’re excited to grill up this summer. What’s your signature speciality when hosting a backyard BBQ? Are you a filet mignon fanatic, or do grilled asparagus spears get you salivating?

I’ll pick a winning entry on May 3rd. PC Home will ship the lucky winner his or her very own grill!

The runner-up will receive a copy of celebrated recipe developer Margaret Howard’s new barbecue bible from Firefly Books: “All Fired Up: 250 Fresh And Flavorful Grilling Recipes”!

pc home’s must-have muskoka chairs

Here’s the Style Sleuth’s conundrum. Although I loves me a great bargain, I absolutely detest grocery shopping. (I’d sooner spring clean the house top to bottom than pick up the milk. Yes, it’s just that intense.) So for a new release at the Real Canadian Superstore to get me pumped to pop into the supermarket this weekend, you know it’s gotta be major. Which is exactly how I’d describe PC Home’s new Muskoka chairs.

What’s best, these brand-new pieces from the PC Home 2010 Patio & Barbeque Collection (hitting store floors this week) are priced to sell at only $100 each. Incredible!

father’s day gift ideas – part one

I take comfort in the certainties in life. All kittens are cute. In every Martha Stewart Halloween special, she’s bound to say the word “ghoulish” 500 times. And the fact that Father’s Day is hands-down, the most difficult gift-buying occasion in the calendar year.

Dads are just so hard to buy for. Everything my dad wants, he goes out and buys for himself, leaving my sister and I the unenviable task of divining what he doesn’t know he wants. (Does that even make sense?)

That’s why I’m bucking the trend of a lifetime, and am scoping out Father’s Day gift ideas a month in advance.

This actually caught my eye at the Real Canadian Superstore the other day…

PC Home medium-size grill cover, $40

Sure, it’s tightroping the fine line between kitsch and cute, but since it’s a barbeque cover, I’m gonna cut it some slack. Barbequeing is meant to be fun! It’s totally cottage-casual, and as my dad is no stranger to splitting firewood, he’ll get a kick out of the forestry motif.

I’ll consider it option #1. More to come. icon wink fathers day gift ideas part one
