Fab find
Handwoven Byholma basket in grey, $6; ikea.ca.

Organizing a space can not only be a daunting task, but an expensive one as well. I love these $6 baskets from IKEA because they’re so versatile. You can use them to display objets (like above) or bundle small items like matches, votive candles, clothespins, etc. I’m thinking about using these in our laundry room when it’s finished — attach blank gift tags to the fronts with ribbon to label the contents of each basket.

What do you use to organize the small items in your home?

jewelry: storage, display + your chance to win!

jewelry1 jewelry: storage, display + your chance to win!
Jewelry storage can be a challenge. If you don’t have jewelry boxes at the ready, your pretty baubles can end up in an unsightly heap on your dresser. Stray earrings can lose their partners and necklaces can end up in a tangled mess. I love this idea from Pottery Barn (pictured above). These hardwood jewelry display frames turn your precious pieces into works of art, displayed for your enjoyment rather than hidden away in boxes. It’s a great way to keep things organized and tangle-free. We’ve got lots of other jewelry storage ideas. Check them out!

papeterie pretty paper accessories

picture 14 papeterie pretty paper accessories

No, this isn’t another exotic new wallcovering. It’s actually artisanal, hand-made paper, imported by Papeterie in Thornhill, Ontario. I had the chance to chat with Papeterie‘s Zarine Baxter at the Canadian Gift and Tableware Association show back in January, and totally fell for her artful applications of these gorgeous papers. Check out the metallic print from above, applied to home office accessories…

What a gorgeous way to add some style (and organization!) to a home office. (They also make for great host gifts when traveling, as each of these pieces fold flat!)

beautiful bodum

bodum beautiful bodumI love the simplicity of Bodum`s designs. The YOHKI storage jar with chrome lid (featured left), is perfect for storing flour, sugar and pasta and is perfect for blending into any countertop. The CHAMBORD French press coffee maker with metal lid (pictured right) is so elegant. I can just smell the aroma in the air and it makes me think of sipping coffee at a patisserie in Paris. Except that I don`t drink coffee.

Bodum products can be found at Home Outfitters and select The Bay stores across Canada. Or at Bodum stores in Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, China, Japan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Australia … you know … if you`re going.
