a charming st. patrick’s day table setting

With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, I created a quick and easy table setting for inspiration! For the look, I simply repurposed gift wrapping paper from Paper-Source for the place-mats, then added in a succulent (already potted) from the grocery store and homemade linens from a fabric shop. Guinness beer is a must-have at any St. Patrick’s Day dinner and I also made some delicious Guinness mini-cupcakes (recipe found here) that go perfectly with the dark stout! This St. Patrick’s Day, set the table, cook up a traditional Irish meal and serve some Guinness beer and cupcakes! Cheers to the Irish!

party planning – arabian nights style!

The current issue of STYLE AT HOME magazine — our Entertaining special — is all about party planning: sprucing up your space for guests, what to serve, and secrets for laying stylish spreads on the table. As always, there wasn’t enough room in the magazine to pack in all the party planning gems we came across in our scouting, and this in particular was something I knew I had to share on my blog…

Believe it or not, this is someone’s basement.

Albeit, a basement transformed into a magnificent Moroccan soiree by Nisha Chandra of Nisha Designer Events. How much FUN does this look?!? From the low cushion seating to the pierced metal lanterns, it totally takes you away… Nisha even installed a little lounge area off to one corner — complete with hookah!

Nisha actually called the look of this party “Spice Route” after the warm, spicy reds, oranges and burnt yellows at play. What an unforgettable dinner party this would’ve been!

Join me, Kimberley Seldon and special guest Samantha Pynn (I’m SO cited to finally be on-air with my old partner in crime!) on the Tuesday, September 29 episode of CityLine. I’ll be setting the table for harvest brunch, and adding to the overall mayhem that’s bound to ensue when you get the three of us together… Can’t WAIT!!!

Here’s one of the plates I’m using in my tablescape… SO dreamy!
