100th post celebration: anthropologie catalogue lovelinessby brett |

It goes without saying that I love magazines. I’ve got a ton of subscriptions and can barely afford each one a cursory flip-through before the next issues arrives. That’s why I’m almost ashamed to admit that one of the monthlies that I look forward to most is… A catalogue.
Anthropologie’s monthly mail-out catalogue is a showcase of truly atmospheric photography, and I love how each “issue” has an entirely different mood. February’s issue, for instance, was shot on location in the Slovakian countryside, and resulted in some moody, deliciously decrepit vignettes. The new papier machier Paperie Petting Zoo (the polychrome birdies in the image below) is an awesome new release — these birds are handcrafted from recycled cement bags!

Even if you aren’t on the Anthropologie mailing list, you can view an e-version of their catalogues in all their glory here!
Another reason to love Anthropologie? Even though it’s a U.S.-based company, online shopping’s easy for us north of the border, as the website provides up-to-date Canadian pricing for all products.

I am just as addicted as you to my magazines. Once a semester when I have a class and I need to bring a bunch of magazines for my students to flip through, I can barely part with 4. They all looked at me like I was so lame when I showed up with a measly 4 magazines (one for each group).
I hate cutting up magazines too! lol It just feels sacrilegious.
Anthropologie also has some of the loveliest window and store displays here in the US. They typically hire artists to create installations that are truly inspired. Just Google Image search “Anthropologie displays”!
In the past I loved sopping online with Anthropologie as a Canadian with a taste for their style I mostly shopped the sales. But since I think a year ago they have shut out all Canadians from any sale items online. Insulted but still wanting to understand I wrote them twice and asked them but they will not answer my e-mails. Can anyone findout why they did this?
Does anybody know the names of any of the Anthropologie catalogue photographers?
What a great question - thanks Ana! I know a gentleman called David Meredith did some of the photography for the March catalogue… That’s the only name I could sleuth out at the moment.
