You've trimmed the tree, strung the lights and decked the halls. But do you lose that festive feeling the moment you leave your living room? A few simple touches is all it takes to spread holiday cheer into the oft-neglected rooms in your home.
Kitchen
During the holidays, you may spend a lot of time in your kitchen, entertaining guests and preparing family meals. Just like the other rooms in your home, your kitchen deserves to be decorated, too. Try using foodstuffs to add festive flair.
• Tie eight to 10 cinnamon sticks together with holiday ribbon for a sweet-smelling centrepiece.
• Dress up a plain pine wreath with dried berries and various nuts (almonds, chestnuts, walnuts, etc.).
• Decorate a potted rosemary "tree" with lightweight ornaments or thin bits of ribbon.
• Attach ready-made or handmade fabric bows to the backs of kitchen chairs.
• Decorate a doorway with a garland of cookie cutters strung together with silver ribbon.
Bedroom
There's nothing like starting a dreary winter day by waking up to Christmas cheer in your bedroom. Keep holiday decorating simple and subtle:
• Create a table-topper for your dresser or night table by arranging three tall candles and various-sized Christmas ornaments on a glass plate.
• Drape a holiday-themed quilt over the footboard or the end of your bed.
• Using clear thread or fishing line, hang small bunches of evergreen from windows or doorknobs.
