Eclectic style has been gaining momentum in recent years; and, much to my delight, it appears to be graduating in 2012 from style statement to full-on trend. Thanks to a surge in popularity of design blogs and DIY decorating books, we're finally celebrating interiors designed with real-living and real-budgets in mind! Repurposing thrift store finds, buying vintage and going with your gut has never been more chic. It's actually trendy to be thrifty, unique and unexpected! Having always enjoyed the challenge of turning old cast-offs into stylish tableaux, I look to local second hand stores for inexpensive, one of a kind accessories that are as much now as they are nostalgic. On a recent drop-in to one of my fav shops, I snagged these charming casserole dishes for my kitchen decor. For mere change, my renter's kitchen now packs a playful punch and personality to boot! I can't think of a better way to start off the year! Amy Walters is a Winnipeg-based design enthusiast and blogger. For more design inspiration from Amy, check out her blog aDESIGNdock.
