Making your home look fabulous at Christmas doesn’t have to cost a lot. These three easy, inexpensive handmade creations won’t break the bank and are sure to add some holiday whimsy to your space! StevenChris-cones.jpg Cone trees
Cone-shaped trees of various heights are highly impactful when displayed en masse. how-to Gather a selection of patterned wallpapers in similar tones. Draw a circle in pencil on the back of a piece of wallpaper (the size of the circle will determine how tall the cone will be) and cut it out using scissors. Mark the midpoint and cut a seam to the mark. Bring the two edges of the seam together and continue to roll the paper to create a cone shape. Secure the outside edge to the cone with double-sided tape. Repeat with the remaining papers. StevenChris-stockings.jpg
Paper stockings
Stockings hung along a fireplace mantel are quintessential holiday decor. Crafting your own paper stockings allows you to personalize each one and give your mantel a unique look. how-to Collect solid and patterned papers in the same colourways (Japanese papers work well for this project). Draw the stocking shapes and cuffs in pencil on the backs of the papers and cut out the pieces using scissors (we opted for two different sizes of stockings and cuffs to create a layered effect). Affix all the pieces together using a glue stick. Decorate the cuffs with buckles, tassles, or flower shapes out of the paper remnants. Just have fun with it! StevenChris-snowman.jpg
Snowmen
These whimsical white wonders add holiday cheer to a dark bookshelf or forgotten side table. how-to Simply wrap mohair wool around Styrofoam balls of different sizes and attach the forms together using hot glue. Adorn the snowmen with buttons or beads for the eyes, orange felt for the noses, and strips of fabric for the scarves.
