aloha: pierre frey's new spring textile collection

By: Sara Cation

As a longtime lover of the luxurious French textile house Pierre Frey (check out previous posts and articles here and here), I am absolutely smitten with Aloha, the company's brand new spring collection. With vibrant colours leap off luxe materials with artistic patterns in intricate detail, it's hard not to fall head over heels! Here are a few of my favourites from the collection.   [caption id="attachment_25281" align="aligncenter" width="460" caption="Embroidered-on-linen Carriacou"] [/caption] Carriacou: Kaleidoscopic and colourful, just a small hit of this fabric would electrify a room. [caption id="attachment_25284" align="aligncenter" width="460" caption="Linen Arty"] [/caption] Arty: A reproduction of abstract artwork by French artist Marie-Cécile Aptel.   [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="460" caption="Embroidered and appliquéd Aloha"] [/caption] Aloha: The namesake and starting point of the whole collection, this exotic embroidery could be the new - elegant - Hawaiian print.   [caption id="attachment_25282" align="aligncenter" width="460" caption="Embroidered-on-linen Grenadines"] [/caption] Grenadines: Youthful and energetic, this embroidered chain-stitch motif evokes spring in its bright blossom display.
Linen Marabout

Marabout: A playful take on tribal African artwork. I love the turquoise, yellow, burnt red and grey palette here.

Bagan: This cotton print is my absolute favourite from the collection: I love the scene, the detail, the colour. And I love the exotic destination it implants in my imagination. So when I read that this particular textile was inspired by a monks at an archaeological site in Burma, everything made sense. Burma has been at the top of my travel bucket list since high school, and being surrounded by monks on my trips to Thailand and India have been some of my most memorable travel moments. This textile takes me exactly to where I've been and where I want to go.
