diy grid paneling

I've always loved paneling, especially grid paneling. It seems to elevate a home by adding depth, class and interest. But as many of us already know, it can be pricey!

Lately, I've been inspired by so many beautiful rooms out there that I had to try it myself. But to do it in a way that would cut the cost, not the impact! Here's what I came up with.

I was inspired by gorgeous homes that had this lovely grid paneling. I especially loved this photo I came across some time ago.

I decided to make things easier on myself by not doing my grid quite as ornate as this inspiration photo. Here's a shot of our room before the grid went up:
Before
Simply purchased two sheets of MDF and had Home Depot cut them into six inch strips.
Dap cracks and fill in nail holes.
Then simply paint!
I love the look of bright white paint. Feels so clean and fresh. I used Behr's Ultra Pure White, right off the shelf from Home Depot. The project was really easy, but did take a couple of days.

Total cost was approximately $60 worth of MDF and a can of paint. Pretty reasonable for the impact you get!
