1 What kitchen design elements help ensure easy entertaining?
Martha Stewart
Style and storage should coexist to ensure that every square inch of the kitchen is cleverly utilized. For example, shelves turn idle walls into the perfect place to store unique or oversized bowls and serving pieces.

2 When it comes to holiday cooking and baking, What kitchen tools are must-haves?
MS
An excellent stand mixer, rubber spatulas of all sizes and really good baking sheets and cake pans are essential.

3 Do you spend the holidays at the same house every year?
We always entertain at my farm in Bedford, NY. But we also try to vacation the day after to someplace warm, or cold – with snow! inside-design-martha-stewart-dog.jpg

4 What’s your favourite holiday tradition?
MS
Christmas Eve dinner with family and close friends and, of course, my annual Christmas open house with more than 200 guests to partake in good food and good cheer.

5 Do you involve your pets in your holiday traditions ?
MS
I’ve shared my home with many cherished pets – dogs, cats, horses, chickens, sheep, turkeys, canaries. They’re an integral part of my family and they inspired my line of holiday pet accessories for PetSmart.

6 Who would your dream holiday dinner guests be?
MS
Definitely Santa Claus. And baby Jesus – he could play with my granddaughter, Jude. inside-design-martha-stewart-tre.jpg

7 How far in advance should you plan a holiday party?

When it comes to decorating for the holidays, it’s never too early to start! Invitations go out in early to mid-November and decorating is complete by December 15.

8 What are your top three tips for hosting a holiday gathering?
MS
Always incorporate great decorations, delicious food and fabulous family and friends.

9 Do you change up your christmas decor themes annually?
MS
I always decorate like crazy – inside my homes and out – and I vary the look from year to year. So, if last year I used all feather trees, for example, this year they all might be tinsel.
