2012 cookie swap: Brenda's spicy gingerbread cookies
- ½ cup butter flavour shortening
- ½ cup butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1-¼ cup molasses
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 5-½ to 6 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1-½ tsp ground cloves
- 2 tsp ground nutmeg
- ½ tsp ground white pepper
1 Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2 Cream together shortening butter and granulated sugar.
3 Add molasses, eggs and vanilla, and mix well. Sift dry ingredients into separate bowl, and add to wet ingredients a little at a time, stirring in completely.
4 Chill for an hour or two. Roll out on floured counter to about 1/4 an inch thick and cut into shapes.
5 Bake at 375° for 7-10 minutes. Let cool, and decorate with royal icing.
