2013 cookie swap: Kristen's peppermint cookies

Ingredients
Cookies

Icing

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons softened butter
  • Splash of milk
  • 2 teaspoons peppermint extract

Topping

Cookie Directions
1 Beat the butter and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl. Add the egg and peppermint and beat.

2 Slowly add the flour and salt until the dough comes together.

3 Roll into a ball.

4 Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the ball in the center of the pan. Gently press the dough into a 9x11 inch rectangle. Keep the dough as even as possible.

5 Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Let cool.

Icing Directions
1 Mix powdered sugar and butter in a bowl. Slowly add enough milk to get the desired consistency.

2 Stir in the peppermint extract.

3 Ice cookies.

4 Place cookie cutter on top and spoon crushed candy canes into the cookie cutter. Repeat.
