Three experts give exterior design advice on grey, red and yellow brick homes.

First impressions count, so pull together an exterior colour palette that makes your home the best dressed on the block. To show you how, STYLE AT HOME sent three experts a black-and-white illustration of a typical suburban house and asked each to “colour” it: one scheme if it had red brick, one if it had grey brick and one if it had yellow brick. All houses have a dark grey roof. Here's how each designer enhanced the look with colour.

Leah Rourke and Jenny Martin
Designers: Pure Design Firm, Victoria

“For each house, we chose colours that coordinate with the brick to create a harmonious palette, rather than one with too much contrast. Using colours found in nature is a safe bet -- they never go out of style and won't be intrusive in their surroundings.”
