Naturally serene

The home's skylights were a selling point when Herma and Bob were house hunting. "They make the space feel airy and light," says Herma. But the kitchen was still a rather gloomy affair, so one of the first tasks they undertook was to open it up by removing walls and tearing out the dark cupboards. It was transformed into an inviting space with glass-front cabinetry, tumbled-marble countertops and a random-pattern stone floor.
