"My boyfriend and I moved into this rental unit December 2007. Of course, the furniture that made the cut into this space was a combination of my university digs and basement-recovery items from his parents' house. Even the intimidating green dresser was a purchase from a used furniture website. Nonetheless, I knew there was potential in some items and a one-way ticket to the dump for the others."

That is very beautiful but it was not done on a 'very limited budget'. Most people would not have had all that stainless steel and quartz countertops on a 'very limited budget'. At least not in my world. I do love what you did though. Marilyn

I thought all of you DIYers on a budget out there would love to know about the granite my husband and I used in our kitchen. We bought it from Sauder Design, a one lady show out of Cambridge, ON who taught us how to install the granite ourselves with only a wet saw. My husband and I are handy, but had never tried anything like this before. We are thrilled with the results and the granite cost one tenth of the quote I received from Home Depot! For more info visit: www.sauderdesign.com Cheers, Lisa Tanser
Gorgeaous! I did something very similar to this just before xmas, now it's one of my favorie rooms in the house!
Of course some of the makeovers are beautiful. But I prefer the environmentally friendly makeover in the first living room. It entails re using most of the existing furniture. This was the best since it proves that one can be creative and still modernize/improve environments without having to feed a landfill.
