"As I'm a true believer in making old and dull pieces look new and fabulous, we didn’t actually buy anything for this makeover other than the couch. I love the colour and its contribution to the omnipresent cool and subdued feeling of this room. The avocado dresser got a facelift with a fresh coat of Benjamin Moore paint (Swiss Coffee OC-45) and it stands more confidently with a new set of cast-iron lion's paw legs from Lee Valley. The caribou antlers were a gift from my father, which he brought with him from my hometown St. John's, Newfoundland. A personalized decor project isn't complete with a little piece of home."

That is very beautiful but it was not done on a 'very limited budget'. Most people would not have had all that stainless steel and quartz countertops on a 'very limited budget'. At least not in my world. I do love what you did though. Marilyn

I thought all of you DIYers on a budget out there would love to know about the granite my husband and I used in our kitchen. We bought it from Sauder Design, a one lady show out of Cambridge, ON who taught us how to install the granite ourselves with only a wet saw. My husband and I are handy, but had never tried anything like this before. We are thrilled with the results and the granite cost one tenth of the quote I received from Home Depot! Gorgeaous! I did something very similar to this just before xmas, now it's one of my favorie rooms in the house!
Of course some of the makeovers are beautiful. But I prefer the environmentally friendly makeover in the first living room. It entails re using most of the existing furniture. This was the best since it proves that one can be creative and still modernize/improve environments without having to feed a landfill.
