The look
Designed by renowned Chicago architect Andre Landon from EDI Architecture, the concept for the rooms is quite simple -- comfortable, clean and contemporary in a high-performance building. Neutral shades offer a peaceful sanctuary and dark wood accents draw attention to fine detailing. An exposed concrete ceiling showcasing beams and rustic tiles adds to the loft aspect of the room. The headboards and nightstands were custom made from recycled wood materials and an automatic temperature system (to heat or cool the room only when you enter it) makes this a super-stylish eco-friendly building. Bathed in natural light from the floor to ceiling windows, the 216 open-concept rooms offer breathtaking views of Chicago's skyline, making the city part of the artwork.
The inspiration
Landon wanted to create a loft-like feeling in each room with full windows, sliding doors, comfortable furniture pieces and minimal accents. In doing so, guests have the ability to soak up the full Chicago vibe just by relaxing in the comfort of the hotel room. And by looking at Chicago's sleek and impressive skyline (arguably one of the coolest in America), you needn't much more inspiration.
