Colour palette

"This colour palette takes its cues from a sun-filled day at the beach." For the walls, try using Behr's Cascade Green MQ6-36 to brighten up the space.

An unexpected way to use paint

Make an impact with bold statements in small doses. "Extend your existing palette by going a few shades deeper," says Christina.

The perfect paint project

Christina is always inspired, and is already planning her next paint project: painting her ceiling. "When painting slightly uneven surfaces like a ceiling or a textured wall, a matte finish will help to disguise any flaws."

Her best advice

"Buy a sample pot of paint and brush a large swatch on your wall. Look at the swatch throughout the next few days and see how the colour changes with the light." Try experimenting with Behr's White Lie MQ3-55.

Amplifying artwork

A textile and art lover who likes to incorporate graphic prints into her space, Christina sticks to softer wall colours like those in the BEHR MARQUEE® Lights collection to highlight and contrast these accents.

The biggest lesson she ever learned

"I've learned that not all paint is created equal - especially when painting white trim! Make sure to test the paint to ensure it has the coverage and sheen you want," says Christina. "The first white colour that I chose for the trim in the house we built was much too shiny and had poor coverage so you could see almost every brush and roller stroke."

Finding the right colour

"Compile your favourite home decor images and see if there's a reoccuring wall colour that pops up. Then, select a few different paint colours that you think are the closest to your inspiration colour, like Behr's Lady Guinevere MQ1-13, and paint swatches on your wall."
