DIY project: Faux fern wreath

Here's a simple project that shows you how to create the green coloured faux fern wreath in Catherine Therrien's nature-inspired art installation.

1 Using pliers, fold back the prongs that hold the wire wreath together. you'll be able to remove the inner and outer wire rings (the two middle ones are stationary). Decide which size you would like to use (we used the outer ring).

2 Clip individual fern fronds from the bundles using wire cutters until you have enough to cover the entire ring.

3 Take one fern frond and secure its end to the ring with floral wire. Working clockwise, attach the next frond a few inches from the previous one so there's a slight overlap.

4 Once you've attached fronds all the way around, assess whether you need to secure other parts of the fronds to the ring. Keep in mind that you want a very loose look.
