Project: Vintage key save-the-date cards

Save on cash but go big on style with these DIY save-the-date cards.

Vintage key save-the-date

Time 3 to 4 hours
When to start 7 to 8 months before the wedding.
Budget $200 (excluding postage)

Inspired by calligrapher and graphic designer Maybelle, this charming save-the-date uses vintage keys to entice your guests. Seam binding, a lightweight and inexpensive ribbon available in a range of colors, gives the card a feminine flair. Look for 3-inch or smaller vintage keys at flea markets, Etsy, or on eBay; the small size will both fit the card and save you money on postage. Note that due to their bulk, these save-the-dates will require extra postage and a hand-cancel fee. vintage-keys.jpg
