Bathroom design: Casual country

STYLE AT HOME What did you need this room to do for you and your family? CHRISTINE HANLON This is the principal bathroom in the home, so it needed to function for my family of four, sometimes all of us at once. I added a double vanity, which has been great, especially when we have guests staying over. Occasionally we rent out the house, so, for us, inexpensive updates were key to presenting a clean space.

SAH How did you save money? CH I cut costs by using vintage lighting, repurposing items I already had and doing most of the work myself.

SAH How did you decide on the colour scheme? CH To keep things neutral, soft and unified with the rest of the home, I chose a combination of grey, white and slate blue – it’s a scheme that feels particularly pleasing in the country, but doesn’t look dated.
