decor shopping: french country at chatelet

By: Elaine Song
There's something about summer that makes me look around my apartment and re-imagine my space entirely. Those long, warm days where you yearn to lay out in the sun all day, then let the night breeze filter through your window as you sleep. To me, the airy ease of shabby chic and elegant comfort of French country are the best ways to celebrate the season when it comes to home decor. So in search for inspiration (and indulgence) I visited one of my favourite decor shops in Toronto: Chatelet. Here are a few of my favourite finds from my latest trip:   1 Sideboard This find is perfect for a condo or apartment as it's not an overbearing size, but offers just enough storage.   2 Hardware I love sifting through hardware, whether it's industrial or feminine. Chatelet offers a variety of beautiful coloured glass knobs for that final flirty touch on your drawers.   3 Cup and saucer sets I love the delicate and subtle detailing of these sets, which are only a small example of Chatelet's selection.   4 Garden accessories The little basil planter caught my eye as I was leaving and would love a set for a small herb garden!   5 Sofa I'll admit that the print itself is not my style, but I love the lines of French-inspired furniture. I stood in the store for a good while imagining what a new upholstery and paint job I could do to this piece...   Do you like the French country style?
