editor's pick: calligraphy starter kit

By: Elaine Song
This is the first year that I can remember actually making a list of substantial New Year's resolutions, one of which is to take up a craft or hobby. I've considered painting, knitting, and jewellery-making, but I recently came across @lhcalligraphy on Instagram who now has me contemplating taking up calligraphy. Always one to doodle in her notebooks, I became a quick lover of typography, design, signage - you name it. I even went so far as to design my own artwork and had it printed because I knew what I wanted, but couldn't find exactly what I pictured in my mind's eye. With the help of Laura Hooper-Leader's (@lhcalligraphy) calligraphy starter kit, I could continue to make my own prints (that gallery wall is still looking a little sparse) and rekindle the relationship with my inner doodler. Each kit comes with: - 1 adjustable oblique pen holder - Assortment of 3 nibs - 1 pot of black ink - 1 pot of white ink - 1 personalized journal for doodling -  3 sheets of vellum tracing paper - 3 sheets of gridline practice sheets - 3 alphabets and instructional tips and techniques from Laura's personal experience - 1 signature Laura Hooper Calligraphy print for practice tracing (print varies in each kit) Available at LHCalligraphy on Etsy for $66.85. What are your resolutions?
