    Spend... thrift

    Erin McLaughlin

The driving force behind this issue is the concept that a successful home incorporates both cost-saving measures and the occasional big-ticket item, and it's that mix that helps define each and every homeowner's personal style. All the owners and designers featured here have inspired me to try to make considered decorating choices this year, spending the most on quality investment pieces and mixing them with whimsical budget buys - long past January 31.
