My black and white striped settee is probably one of the most, if not the most, treasured decor item I own. It served as the jumping off point for my apartment's design scheme and was even the inspiration for one of my wedding cakes. There is something so appealing about the delicate frames and small-scale seating that settees offer. Whether carved and gilded or more plain and simply upholstered, they are great to slip into smaller spaces and always add visual interest to a room.     I thought I'd share some of my fave settees available right now. Some vintage, some new - all fabulous! This curvy antique beaut is only $450 on kijiji here in Toronto. Imagine what a fresh upholstery job in a bright colour would do to transform it! I'm thinking a neon linen, but more neutral-minded people could also spray out the frame in white paint and upholster it a soft grey wool too. Add a long single lumbar cushion in a printed fabric and you're in business!   Want something a little cozier? This vibrant settee from Anthropologie is fully upholstered and the tufted back and turned legs on casters give it that old library feel that is so warm and appealing on cold days like this.   For the mid-century modern enthusiast, Patina Antiques has a pair of beautiful antique walnut settees whose subtle curved seat and single row of tufting on the back give it a very Jonathan Adler vibe.   Last, but not least, my current fave is a pair of Louis XVI style vintage settees that scream my name. The carvings, the creamy white frame and gilded accents, the fact that there are two and best of all the fact that both are priced at just $1,500 at Carrocel Restorations makes me want to snatch them up and store them for some future client's glam living room.   Which settee would you choose?    (Photo of black and white settee: Stacey Brandford)
