To decorate
Have the cake balls chilled and in the refrigerator.

Make the bases in advance. Melt the red candy coating in a microwavesafe plastic bowl following the instructions on the package and pour into the candy cup mold cavities. Place a lollipop stick in the center of each mold shape and place in the freezer for several minutes to set. Repeat until all the snow globe bases are made. Note: if the coating is too fluid when you fill the cavities the sticks will fall over. If this happens, let the coating set for a few minutes in the mold and insert the sticks before they dry completely. Let prepared bases rest on a small baking sheet.

Melt blue candy coating in second microwavesafe plastic bowl, following the instructions on the package. The coating should be about 3 in (7.5 cm) deep for easier dipping. I usually work with about 16 oz (455 g) of coating at a time.

When you are ready to dip, remove a few cake balls at a time from the refrigerator, keeping the rest chilled.

One at a time, dip about 1⁄2 in of the lollipop stick into the melted candy coating and insert the stick straight into the bottom of the cake ball, pushing it no more than halfway through. Dip the cake pop into the melted coating, and tap off any excess.

Sprinkle pops with non-pareils for snow while the coating is still wet and place in the Styrofoam block to dry.

To attach globes to the bases, place a small amount of melted red candy coating on the top of each base. Remove the globe from the stick it was placed on to dry and then place it hole down on to the red candy coating covered base to attach like glue. Let dry completely.

When dry, dot coating on the ball in position for the snowman and attach two confetti sprinkles. You can also use marshmallow bits (pressed together with your fingers) for a bigger snowman body. Next, melt and apply white candy coating on the bottom of the pop using a toothpick. Sprinkle sanding sugar on while it’s still wet for fallen snow. Pour sprinkles over a bowl to catch and reuse any that don’t attach to the pop. Use a toothpick if necessary to clean up any edges.

Dot coating in several places on the top of the cake pop and attach snowflake sprinkles for larger flurries.

Draw on snowman details with the black, blue and orange edible ink pens.

Let dry completely in the Styrofoam block.
