Ever wonder if it's possible to renovate an entire room in just one night? Well, a group of volunteers, along with HGTV's own interior design, Lisa Canning, and contractor, Christian Pavey, proved it's possible! This handy team joined with Jergens to makeover the Toronto YWCA Women's Housing community room overnight. And just to give you an idea of the challenge they were faced with, here's the "before": About a month ago I wrote about a community restoration program with Benjamin Moore. I'm always touched by the work and goodwill put into charitable projects and this makeover is another beautiful example. When Jergens was planning to launch their new overnight "Restoring Moisturizer" they decided to forego the usual promotional activities and advertisements. Instead, they invested that money into the Pape Street YWCA. With the help of Lisa Canning and Christian Pavey - who provided their expertise pro bono - they were able to turn the community room into this: Looks like two completely different rooms, right? This is because the space was completely overhauled. The floors, ceiling and cabinetry are all new, creating an inviting and functional space for what is considered the heart of the building. Now women and children can benefit from YWCA's safe and affordable housing, as well as having a comfortable space to come together and build relationships. It's a win-win reno! Do you like the makeover?
