new use tuesdays: dishwasher

One of the hardest-working appliances in your home, the dishwasher can do much more than bring dinnerware and flatware to a shine. For this week's spotlight, check out three unexpected uses for this workhorse. [caption id="attachment_30691" align="aligncenter" width="460"] Dishwasher, Maytag. Dishwasher, Maytag.[/caption] 1. Potato washer: Scrubbing enough potatoes for a big soiree can cut into valuable pre-party prep time. Place the tubers on the top rack of your dishwasher and set it on rinse only, and you'll have squeaky clean potats in a snap. Just don't add detergent! 2. Salmon poacher: It might sound crazy, but you can use the dishwasher to cook fish. Try out this recipe; you might never poach in the oven again. 3. Action figure superhero: Plastic figures are all nooks and crannies, and that doesn't mix well with sticky hands. Get them looking dapper again by tossing them in the cutlery basket when you do the next load. Do you have a wackily good use for your dishwasher? Leave a comment below.
