Our favourite decor shops you may not have heard of

Switch up your usual rotation of decor destinations with this list of hidden gems you may not know about, but really should.

When it comes to searching for home decor, we love our old faithful go-tos like Structube, IKEA H&M Home and Zara Home. But creating a truly personalized space sometimes means looking to places that are a little less known to the masses — those that favour craftsmanship, unique design and quirky style. We’ve rounded up some decor shops you may have missed but need to be on your radar.

Originated in Montreal, this vintage and industrial-inspired decor space has mastered the boho-feel when it comes to its furniture, lighting, decor and accent offerings. It has two store locations in Montreal and Toronto, but ships across Canada for items purchased in the online store. Peruse their Instagram page for some serious decor and styling inspo.

This Toronto-based decor shop mixes new (handcrafted candles, pillows and throws) and old (well-sourced vintage finds). We go for their array of books (from cooking to understanding cannabis) and cool barware and accessories, all of which are perfectly gift-worthy. Plus, the owner’s mini daschund, Grapes, frequents the store to greet guests.

Next time you’re in Montreal, make sure you make a pit stop to this concept home decor boutique. It's a worthy destination for inspo and offers in-home consultations for spatial planning, paint colours and design. While it doesn't sell products online, you can view some of the pieces and styles on the company's website, beigestyle.com.

It prides itself on creating timeliness pieces that support local communities and craftspeople, while also using sustainable materials that marry function with style. Visit the Toronto-based two-storey showroom or connect with the company online to upgrade your space.

This Vancouver-based boutique is located in the South Granville neighbourhood and is a treasure trove for modern and mid-century modern design pieces. It stocks furniture, decor and accent items that will elevate any space. While there is no e-store (yet!), if you live or are visiting the area, it’s worth a stop.

If you haven’t perused the online shop or stumbled upon the Toronto store, you’re seriously missing out. Unique, stylish pieces make up the bulk of the offerings as well as stock designers and items the shop personally vouches for — many pieces of which are created from reclaimed materials or support small businesses. It's considered a boutique, but its stock is impressive, and international shipping is available.
