oscars 2012 countdown: party decor inspired by the artist

It's almost Oscar time, but we still have time to be inspired by one more Best Picture nominee! Having already taken our decor ideas from the southern sets of The Help and the French charm of Midnight in Paris, we can now look at a Hollywood-based film just in time for the celebrities to take on Hollywood Boulevard this Sunday. Benn Who knew that a silent film like The Artist would capture the imaginations of a modern day audience? Presented in black and white with nothing but a riveting score to listen to, this film's tremendous success (at least in styleathome.com's books!) is in part due to its beautiful set design and style. So if you're cheering on this artful black and white nomination, why not go all out and embrace the film with a monochromatic party scheme? Shabby chic chair When it comes time for the winner to be announced make sure your guests are sitting on the edge of this lovely seat. A beautiful combination of shabby chic and ornate charm, this chair exudes elegant fashion and can be used occasionally or for everyday dining. Anthropologie, $980. Studded mirror Make sure you are at your most glamourous by stealing a glance or two in this studded shabby chic mirror. It looks as though it was transported directly from one of The Artist actors' dressing rooms. Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic Couture, $345. Decorative decanter The flappers were tremendous fans of the ornate decanter and this modern twist on the historic idea would make an ideal vase or decorative accessory to add character to your tabletop. Anthropologie, $58. Cocktail glasses From gin martinis to vintage cocktails like the New York sour, serve your guests in style with a sparkling set of glassware. This modern yet classic collection is certainly the bees knees! IKEA, $9.99 (set of two). Mood lighting Ambiance is everything when it comes to hosting a get together. For an intimate 1920s tea-light glow turn off the glaring overheads and let this pretty black  twinkle over the evening instead. Pottery Barn, $112.50-$213.62. Are you rooting for The Artist to win Best Picture?
