Ingredients
Topping
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour (you can also use a gluten-free baking mix)
- 1/4 cup agave nectar
- 2 tbsp molasses
- 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves
Filling
- 5 cups chopped pears (peeled if not organic)
- 2 tbsp agave nectar (optional)
- Pinch salt (optional)
Directions
1 Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2 Spray a 2-quart casserole dish with oil.
3 Combine all of the topping ingredients in a bowl and mix well; set aside.
4 If the pears aren’t very sweet, add the agave nectar and the salt to taste.
5 Spread the pears in the bottom of the casserole dish.
6 Sprinkle the gingerbread topping over the pears, then bake for about 30 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the filling is hot.
