Before & After: A Comfy, Cozy Living Room Made For Lounging
See how this dated living room went from looking drab to luxe.
The house had undergone several renos over the years, resulting in a disjointed look with dark and dated finishes. The aim was to infuse the living area with a contemporary, cohesive aesthetic while boosting its functionality.

Favourite features
- The original wood-burning fireplace was a cherished feature of the clients. Its surround was redesigned with a sleek Dekton mantel for a timeless look. It also gives the fireplace more visual weight and the darker tone works well with the dark woods throughout the space.
- Once an underused desk nook, the home’s new “command centre” offers an essential landing zone for everyday items like mail and keys.
- The open railing makes the room feel more spacious and helps lead the eye up to the new artwork on the wall behind it.
