Before & After: A Nordic-Inspired Dining Room Overlooking The Lake
See how a dingey, underused Muskoka room was completely transformed into an inviting Scandi-inspired dining room.
The designers turned a neglected, uninsulated three-season screened room, which was barely used even in summer because of the damaged bug screens, into a light-filled, heated dining room that could function as a year-round retreat. Preserving the panoramic view was a must.

Favourite Features
- The screened room was razed and replaced with a four-season dining room featuring heated floors and a timber-clad ceiling.
- With windows arranged across three elevations, the room is perfectly positioned to capture bird’s-eye views of the forest and panoramic vistas of the lake.
- Elongated furniture (designed by Colin and Justin and built by Haliburton, Ont.-based craftsman John Robinson) complements the 10-inch-wide “louvre” flooring, which has fewer lines and helps create a minimalist aesthetic in a contemporary space.
