Coined 'laundry stripping,' this in-depth cycle involves two washes—and the first one is done by you!
No, we don't expect you to tackle this every time you do a load of laundry, but you might want to try laundry stripping as the seasons change or after a particularly eventful weekend outdoors.
What is laundry stripping?
This viral deep-cleaning trend involves soaking clothing, towels, sheets, etc. in a solution in your bathtub to remove built-up residue from detergents, body oils, perfumes, lotions, and even hard water.
Here's how to try laundry stripping
1. Put your clothing in the bathtub.
2. Add powdered Tide, Borax, and baking soda on top of towels.
3. Fill your tub up with hot water.
4. Stir clothing with a long wooden spoon or tongs to mimic a washing machines motions.
5. Let towels soak for at least four hours, repeating the stirring every hour.
6. Drain the water from the tub, wring out clothing, and put them in the washing machine for a cycle without soap.
7. Tumble dry.

1 cup Tide + 1 tablespoon Borax + 1 tablespoon lye
