Executive editor Suzanne Moutis loves great organizing ideas. Here, she shares innovative solutions for storing your stuff.

If organizing your projects and crafts is at the top of your list of New Year’s resolutions (and when isn’t it?), it may be time to re-evaluate the efficiency of your square footage. Carving out a productive, pretty workspace that holds all the essentials is key to ticking off annual to-dos with style.

1 Install customizable wall-mounted bracket shelving to accommodate supplies like paintbrushes, glue guns and fabric swatches, as well as magazine holders, all while keeping them in plain sight.

2 Invest in an overhead pendant task light to ensure your craft projects benefit from full illumination (and attention!).

3 Cover up that under-the-desk stash of unsightly boxes with a genius skirt. Just hang a fabric panel with a length of wire and clips. No sewing required!

4 Extend the bracket shelving system to include a table surface to serve as added work or storage space. This version is sited under the window to make optimum use of the area.

5 Repurpose bins and buckets to corral oversized materials like rolls of wrapping paper.

TIP: Look up, look way up when revamping your space. Too often we only see the storage potential at eye level, but extending shelving or hooks to the ceiling amplifies the possibilities.
