Materials

  • White kraft paper
  • Painter’s tape
  • Acrylic paint in four shades of green
  • Plastic container
  • Paper plate
  • Sharp knife
  • 2 sweet potatoes
  • Pen

Directions

1 Lay a long piece of kraft paper horizontally on a flat surface. tape down the edges using painter’s tape.

2 Water down some paint in the container to make a thinner consistency; pour the diluted paint onto the paper plate.

3 Cut the sweet potatoes in half lengthwise.

4 Draw a different leaf shape on the cut face of each potato.

5 Carefully carve around the leaf shape, leaving a raised area of potato in the middle.

6 Dip the potato (stamp side down) into the paint, and stamp the paper in a random pattern. Cover the whole sheet of paper evenly with the first stamp.

7 Repeat this process with the three remaining leaf stamps, using different colours of green paint for each stamp.

8 Let dry before wrapping.
