01 DOUBLE UP
Shelf risers are a brilliant way to double the storage capacity in cabinets or in a pantry cupboard with minimal investment. Who doesn’t need more storage space?
02 FLOATING ISLAND
Let’s face it, some kitchens are too tiny for an island. Genius solution: put one on wheels! Quality casters let you push a small island against the wall when not in use, so the flow of the room isn’t permanently disrupted. Choose one with open storage for pretty plates and woven baskets. This island has a smart vertical section for cutting boards. Consider having a countertop made specially for the island: choose butcher block or, for bakers, opt for marble. For a coordinated look, use the same countertop surface used elsewhere in the kitchen.
03 PUT A LID ON IT
If you stack your pots, you know the pain of searching for the right lid. This DIY solution takes up less space than off-the-shelf lid holders. Remove the door and lay it flat on the floor; measure lids, then cut strong vinyl strips to length and secure them with the right size of screws and nuts appropriate for the depth and material of the door.

04 LOST & FOUND
Look for found space that would otherwise be wasted, such as the top of cabinets and the insides of doors. A simple but smart solution is to attach a ready-made spice rack to the inside of a pantry door. Tip: store most-used spices at the perfect height so you can easily grab what you need. Remember to choose a solid model, or have one custom made by a carpenter, so that the containers stay in place when opening and closing the door.
