This Manhattan apartment couldn't be further from a small, cramped space. With a 50 foot living area and three bedrooms, you won't be feeling anything short of glamorous in Julia Robert's Greenwich Village space.

Easy, flowing entrance

Even just entering the apartment gives a feeling of calm, chic decor. You don't need to start off your house with too much and this entrance proves it. Follow the pattern with simplicity, neutral colours and some artwork to create a welcoming entrance to your home.

Simple palette

The colour palette of this Manhattan apartment is perfect for the concrete jungle. Add bold pieces to give your room edge without having to choose a dramatic paint colour if that's not in your comfort zone. Dark lamps and vases are enough to transform this space into a chic living area.

Keep the space open

With 50 feet of flowing, open space in this apartment, it can be a lot to try to transform into a comfortable living space. We've come up with two possibilities for you: use the space as one room if you love hosting large parties and having family over for large dinner often. Or try out Julia's technique. Her space is split into three rooms: dining room, living room and formal seating area. This way you've created a homey feel in three simple steps.

Dramatic sectional

This formal seating area walks out onto the terrace and works well on cool nights. To make the room more modern there is a dark red sectional. Without being too bright, the couch has taken this from a formal room into the perfect place to watch the sun set on a fall night in.

Small, stylish living space

Take advantage of natural lighting and a walk-out terrace by extending the room outdoors. With furniture flowing to the terrace, this space is great to transition from hot summer days to cool fall evenings while still enjoying the view.

Just enough space

If hosting parties isn't in your weekly planner then this dining room is perfect. A six-person table is just enough to have a few friends over without feeling the need to fill a huge space. The patterned rug separates the space from the other rooms and adds texture to the smaller dining room.

Kitchen of steel

In an apartment it is crucial to make every piece of decor count. The patterned tile in the kitchen does just that. By arranging the tiles this way the kitchen appears longer and makes the space feel like bigger. Use these tips for around your smaller spaces to make them appear bigger.

Step into bed or onto the terrace

While this master bedroom may not be the biggest one we've featured, it has a major bonus for the view that you can enjoy straight from bed, or out on the wrap-around terrace first thing in the morning. This master bedroom is glamorous even if it isn't the biggest.

Outside dining plus a view

Creating a rustic duplicate of the indoor dining table makes for the perfect seating space outside. Host a summer party, enjoy a cool night with friends or have a cup of coffee in the morning, but whatever you do out on the terrace you'll enjoy a gorgeous view of the city.

Gorgeous outdoor space

There's no denying this apartment's great appeal is the wrap-around terrace. When you're living in a smaller space having a hot spot outside is the perfect escape without leaving your home. Decorate with similar furniture as your intertior and enjoy the gasp every time you bring friends and family over for a drink.
