one of a kind show: wood picks

I just can't get enough of the Canadian talent at the spring 2014 One of a Kind Show & Sale, which is open until March 30. In addition to the artwork pieces that I was coveting yesterday, check out my favourite wooden pieces, big and small. Exposed wood is the go-to if you're trying to bring a rustic, casual feel into your home. Check out my top picks for wooden pieces from the show. Wife and hubby team Jenn Mezei and Gavin Cond of  Otis (named after their puppy) create funky takes on the traditional Adirondak chair. Gavin builds them and Jenn paints. Believe it or not, the business grew out of Jenn's art school project! Stinson Studios offers tons of beautiful wooden salad bowls of all shapes and sizes. Each is totally unique and highlights the beauty of the wood its made of. I just love the contrasting tones of this one, especially the highly textural natural bark rim. These little vessels by  Nikkuu can be used to display cacti or candles. The bright colour blocking is cleverly done on the circular tops, the simple shape acting as a graphic counterpoint to the wood grain. Though these may look simple on their own, when grouped together they make a Scandi-inspired vignette. Find a must-have wooden piece at the show? Leave a comment below!
