Let me just start by saying that I hate to scrub floors. I mean, there’s sweeping, there’s vacuuming, there’s mopping, and then there’s Cinderella-like laborious scrubbing. And that cleaning ethic definitely came from my mom. This woman is so dedicated to keeping her home clean that she hand scrubs the hardwood floors, despite the various easy-to-use mops that have been bought in the past. What can I say? The woman is traditional. It has now gotten to the point where her knees and lower back cannot handle the chore anymore. Thankfully, I could finally provide her a non-painful solution – a hands-free machine that would do the job for her! irobot-2 Mother’s Day 2014 marked the day a robot saved my mom’s joints. More specifically, the iRobot Scooba. The Scooba has a three-cycle cleaning process: sweeping and pre-soaking, then scrubbing and squeegeeing, then ends with a final squeegee-finish. So not only has this machine made floor scrubbing effortless, it’s also cut down on sweeping time. irobot-3 My mom, nervous about putting her home in the hands of a machine, was particularly concerned about the transition from hardwood to carpet, and falling down the stairs. But the built-in sensors charmed her worries away, intuitively detecting and avoiding them. Even more impressive is the Viritual Wall, an external pack that creates an invisible barrier around an area you do not want the iRobot to cross. She watches it work in absolute amazement and glee, smiles at me and says, “This has changed my life.” And that’s the only review I need. irobot-contest Now Style at Home wants to change your life, too.
