The Most Beautiful Museums To Visit In The World
Soak up art and history in these architecturally breathtaking museums.
Is any trip truly complete without a visit to a museum? From Abu Dhabi to right here in Canada, these museums are just as artistic as the famous pieces they house.

Designed by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry in his signature deconstructivist style, the Guggenheim in Bilbao is a bold home for the art that resides within it. The three-floor building is organized around the atrium and is connected by curved walkways, titanium and glass elevators, and staircases.

Just two kilometres from the iconic Pyramids of Giza, the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo is the largest archaeological museum in the world. Opened in late 2024, this show-stopping destination designed by Irish Heneghan Peng took 20 years to build. Take in the colossal atrium, and then ascend the grand staircase in the main lobby for glimmering views of the pyramids.

Designed by Jean Nouvel, the futuristic Louvre Abu Dhabi can be accessed by land or sea. Made up of 55 buildings and 33 galleries, the centrepiece of the architectural wonder is a huge dome that appears to float above the museum. The dome not only reduces the energy consumption of the buildings below by shading the outdoor plazas, it creates a magical "rain of light" effect as you wander through.

The Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Ont. showcases a delightful dichotomy between its original 1914 architecture and contemporary design. Daniel Libeskind’s modern installation of the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal, the dynamic glass structure in the museum’s entryway, is arguably the most recognizable feature of the site.

Nope, this isn't an alien spaceship! The Niteró Contemporary Art Museum, also known as the MAC, was designed by Oscar Niemeyer and is one of the main landmarks of the Brazilian city. The futuristic museum on a cliffside above Guanabara Bay provides panoramic views of Rio De Janeiro.
Oman Across Ages Museum: Oman

Inspired by the surrounding Al Hajar mountains, the Oman Across Ages Museum is located on a flat desert plain. A striking vertical spike complements the minimalist, canopied exterior. Its design was nominated for the Prix Versailles award of architecture and design in 2024.
Kunsthaus Graz: Graz, Austria

Affectionately known as the Friendly Alien, Kunsthaus Graz opened in 2003 as a contemporary art museum with frequent exhibits highlighting social issues. Designed by Peter Cook and Colin Fournier, Kunsthaus’s blob-like form stands out against the surrounding baroque roof landscape but also seamlessly integrates the facade of the original 1847 building.
The Louvre: Paris, France

This former palace is now the largest museum in the world, home to iconic art, including the Mona Lisa. The historic building was modernized in the 1980s, with its most recognizable feature being the Louvre’s Pyramid, designed by Chinese-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei. The glass pyramid leads down into the main lobby, connecting to the museum’s three main wings.

Mexican architect Fernando Romero designed the Soumaya Museum wrapped in 16,000 mirrored hexagons. This fluid, honeycomb building rises to over 150 feet in height, with its six floors connected by a series of spiral ramps.
